USDA Forest Service Looking For Input On Fort Pierre National Grasslands Fishing Access Project

FORT PIERRE — The U-S-D-A Forest Service is fishing for input for a proposed fishing access area in the Fort Pierre National Grasslands. The Forest Service will be conducting a NEPA analysis of activities proposed under the Fishing Access Project. NEPA stands for National Environmental Policy Act. The project would cover nearly all of the Grasslands area in Stanley, Jones and Lyman Counties. The Fishing Access Project would authorize the installation of boat ramps and earthen fishing piers, reroute existing roads for better access and protection of resources; shorten two roads and clarify road end points and install new and repair existing fencing. Those wishing to give input or get more information should contact the Fort Pierre Ranger District. Scoping period comments are due by June 4th.
