Sanderson Signs with Northstar Christian Academy

After his eighth grade season and leading the team in goals for the Oahe Capitals on the varsity team, Carter Sanderson has signed with the Northstar Christian Academy Knights to continue his hockey career.

Sanderson signed Monday morning to play on the U16 team out of Alexandria, Minnesota. Northstar is a Tier I NAPHL (North American Prospects Hockey League) with plenty of history including recent success in the U18 level. The Knights were the 2020-2021 NAPHL Champions and also were the prep champions in 2018-19. The U16 team finished this season at 23-2-1-2 with 68 points which was second the Central division. The teams play around 55-65 games including showcases throughout the season.

Sanderson finished his lone varsity year with the Oahe Capitals with 40 goals and 30 assists over the preseason, regular season and postseason. Oahe went 21-11-1 overall. Sanderson says the church aspect drew him to the decision at Northstar over the Sioux Falls Power program…

While Sanderson will head into his freshman year, he is the second Capital from the 2021-22 team that will continue playing hockey outside of the Capitals as Kennan Howard was drafted to the Badlands Sabres of the NA3HL after his senior season in April.
