Missouri River Runoff Adjusted Down Even After Rains And Snow

OMAHA, NE — Rain and even snow in recent weeks, while giving some temporary drought relief, will do next to nothing to recharges a depleted Missouri River. Army Corp of Engineer officials held their monthly update Thursday. Engineer Ryan Larson says the Corps, based on forecasts has adjusted yearly runoff estimates down again…

April precipitation was well above average and still barely made a dent for runoff…

Mike Swenson with the Corps says the Oahe reservoir will continue to drop some through the year…

Peak releases from the Oahe Dam are expected to average 27-thousand cubic feet-per-second this summer. The Oahe and Garrison reservoirs could rise in May but that will be dependent on timing and location of additional runoff.
