Pierre Tennis Begins Tournament with Duals Thursday

The Pierre Governors are set to host its Pierre Invitational Tournament which begins on Thursday and continues into Friday all at Griffin Park as a total of eight teams will be in Pierre.

Today the Governors will play a total of four duals before Friday gets into tournament play. Pierre will face Lennox, Spearfish, Rapid City Christian and Aberdeen Roncalli today in its final duals of the season. Pierre is currently 8-6 in duals.

On Friday it will be a tournament style play broken down into each flight as Sioux Falls Christian, Rapid City Central and Madison will be in town for the eight team tournament. Rapid City Central is the only Class AA team in the tournament this weekend. Emily Williamson, head coach of the Pierre Governors says there will be plenty of competitive tennis teams over the two days…

With a lot of the Class A teams involved with the tournament, it’s a chance for the Governors to size themselves up with the rest of the state before the state tournament and Williamson says it’s important to have a good tournament…

At home for the final time this year, Williamson hopes the seniors go off with a strong couple days…

The day begins at 11:00 AM on Thursday and the bracket style tournament is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM on Friday.
