The Pierre Governors had just four hits but took advantage of six Stevens errors and beat the Raiders 8-4 on Wednesday at Hyde Stadium.
Spencer Easland was hit on the right leg with a comebacker in the top of the second and had to be removed from the game as Brecken Krueger, in relief threw five and two thirds innings and picked up the win for the Governors allowing just two runs, one earned on six hits without a walk and one strikeout.
George Stalley drove in the game’s first run with an RBI triple scoring Jayden Wiebe. Lincoln Kienholz had a sac fly to give the Govs a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Stevens answered back with two in the second before the Govs had a 3-2 lead with Jonny Lyons having an RBI ground out. After the Raiders tied the game again, Gary Nedved reach on an error to give the Govs a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth. After a scoreless top of the fifth, Pierre struck for four runs in the bottom half of the inning with Wiebe’s two RBI double, his first extra base hit of the season. Pierre would add one more run for the 8-4 win.
The Governors are now back at .500 at 8-8 and will face the O’Gorman Knights on Friday and Roosevelt Roughriders on Saturday. First pitch of the doubleheader on Friday is at 5:00 with coverage starting at 4:40 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
