Fort Thompson Woman Indicted On Federal Charges For Involuntary Manslaughter, Child Abuse

FORT THOMPSON — A Fort Thompson woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of Child Abuse and Involuntary Manslaughter. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 29 year-old Amber Touche was indicted on April 12th. She entered not guilty pleas to the Indictment in U-S Magistrate Court April 28th. The Indictment alleges on June 10th of 2021 in Big Bend, Touche killed a child under seven years old by asphyxiation. The Indictment goes on to claim Touche abused, exposed, tortured, tormented and cruelly punished the child. If convicted, Touche could face up to 15 years in federal prison and/or a 250-thousand dollar fine. Restitution could also be ordered as a part of sentencing. Touche is released from jail on a bond, pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
