Pierre Baseball Hosts Harrisburg in Monday Night Doubleheader

The Pierre Governor baseball team looks for its third and fourth straight victories as the Harrisburg Tigers will be in town for a doubleheader after the original date on Friday was moved back to Monday.

The two teams played back on Saturday April 8 and it was a game to forget for the Governors as they were bounced 17-4 in five innings with a walkoff grand slam in the bottom of the fifth. Anything which could go wrong did go wrong in the game for Pierre. Tonight though, the Governors are ready to build off of the 10-0 win over Huron on Tuesday and avenge its loss to the Tigers.

Harrisburg comes into the contest with a 13-5 record and near the top of the Class A standings as they have three losses in South Dakota games, to Sturgis, O’Gorman and Roosevelt which they fell to on Thursday. The Tigers have shelled out nine home runs on the season but have scored 188 runs in 18 games. This begins a busy week for the Governors with four doubleheaders and a total of nine games from Monday to Saturday. The Governors have scored 108 runs over its 11 games. Pierre is averaging 14 runs over the last four games. With the Tigers winning the first game, Gray hopes the team remembers the feeling after the loss…
