PIERRE — The Hughes County Commission is meeting tonight at the Hughes County Courthouse. The Equalization Board will meet at 4:30 followed by the Commission at 5:30 pm. Commissioners will get an update on the State’s Attorney’s office and will consider a property tax abatement, equalization update and Veteran’s Service update. The Commission will consider a joint powers agreement for a rumble strip project and a road striping agreement along with considering bridge bids. Three planning and zoning items will come before the Commission, along with personnel matters, discussion on a jail water heater; an amendment to a contract regarding correctional healthcare; an H-2-B Retainer agreement, the claims and reports.
