The Pierre Governors and Huron Tigers were locked into a pitching dual through three innings until the Governors scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth en route to a 10-0 win in six innings in the home opener on Tuesday.
Lincoln Kienholz threw six shutout innings allowing just two hits, one walk, one hit batter and striking out 13 Tiger hitters for a six inning complete game shutout. Kienholz struck out the side in order in the first as Dawson Rogers continued to answer in the bottom half of the inning with three shutout innings. However, two errors in the fourth inning opened up the gates as the Governors were able to strike for nine runs including RBI hits from Grayson Hunsley, George Stalley and Matt Hanson. Kienholz finished the job in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double, one of three RBIs in the game. Pierre out hit Huron 8-2 and improve its record to 5-6 while Huron falls to 6-6.
Pierre is scheduled for a doubleheader on Friday against the Harrisburg Tigers. Coverage will begin, weather pending at 4:40 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
