DOT Doing Work On Highways 83 And 49 This Spring

PIERRE — The South Dakota Department of Transportation is getting area road projects off and running this spring. Work is currently underway on U-S Highway 83 from just south of White River to just south of Murdo. The stretch of road has dealt with numerous closures due to muddy conditions while under construction the last few years. Crews will add a shared use walking path from the Horse Creek Community to White River during the project. The path will be 10-feet wide, with lightning. Traffic will be down to one lane at times with flaggers and pilot cars. Also under construction is State Highway 49 in Lyman and Tripp Counties. That highway will be reconstructed from Highway 44 to Highway 47. Work includes spot grading, milling, pipe work, structure upgrades and pavement. One-lane traffic with flaggers and pilot cars will be a part of the Highway 49 project along with two stop sign locations on the 25 and a half mile route.
