Oahe Capitals’ Keenan Howard has the opportunity to continue playing hockey past high school as the Badlands Sabres selected Howard in the fourth round of the NA3HL draft on Wednesday…

The NA3HL draft has 34 picks per round and a total of four rounds. The NA3HL is for players between ages 16 and cannot be older than 20. Howard, who is finishing up his senior year at Pierre finished his senior campaign with 23 goals and 13 assists combing the preseason, regular season and postseason. Howard had a plus/minus of 10 and led the team with 63 blocked shots. Howard says it’s exciting to continue playing hockey…

The Sabres also selected Dawson Wirth and AJ Petrotto, both of the Rushmore Thunder. Badlands plays their home games at the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena in Rapid City. The 2022-2023 season will be its second year playing in the NA3HL in the Frontier Division.
