Van Camp Excited to Return to Pierre to Pitch for Trappers

After graduation in 2020 Jack Van Camp finished playing baseball with Post 8 in the summer and went down to the Nebraska to start schooling with the idea of coming back to throw for Post 8 one more season in 2021 as a super senior. Once back, the dominoes began to fall in place and the opportunity of playing college baseball came about at Iowa Central Community College. But after throwing for the final time in the summer of 2021, pitching competitively in Pierre was over. That is, until the Pierre Trappers came calling.

Van Camp becomes the fourth signee in Trappers history from Pierre. Landon Badger, Spencer Sarringar and Peyton Zabel, all Post 8 alumni, have signed on for the full summer in previous years. Van Camp on the season at Iowa Central, has thrown 2.2 innings allowing four runs on five hits, three walks and four strikeouts. He was part of a combined no-hitter against Moraine Valley Community College, recording the final three outs. Van Camp says it all got started because of Brian White, manager of the Post 8 senior legion team…

Van Camp pitched in the 2021 region round against Yankton as Pierre qualified for the state tournament and after he left the mound, he thought he would never pitch competitively at Hyde stadium again…

Van Camp says to play in Pierre this summer is exciting…

Van Camp will finish out his first year and with the Covid year given in the 2020-2021 year, he will still have three years of college baseball eligibility. The Trappers begin the season at home on Thursday May 26.
