There was no testimony against the resolution. The resolution barely passed, needing 36 yes votes, 36 to 31. Three representatives were excused from voting. A trial before the Senate will now be set no sooner than May 2nd. A two-thirds majority in the Senate is needed to convict. Governor Kristi Noem issued a brief single-sentence statement saying the House of Representatives did the right thing for the people of South Dakota and the family of Joe Boever.
