Pierre Baseball Travels East to Face Three Teams over Two Days

The Pierre Governor baseball team will put its 3-0 record on the line on Friday and Saturday this weekend as they travel out to Sioux Falls to now face three different teams at three different parks.

Tonight the Governors will face the Brandon Valley Lynx in Brandon only as weather has caused Harmandon Park to be canceled for the day. The Governors are scheduled to play one game for sure and the temperature and winds could determine if a second game is played or not.

Saturday, the Governors will be in Harrisburg first to face the Tigers before traveling in to Sioux Falls to face the Jefferson Cavaliers at Harmadon Park.  Harrisburg is the only team of the three who hasn’t played mostly out of state teams to begin the season so the records won’t indicate how dangerous Brandon Valley and Jefferson can be.

Steve Gray, head coach of the Pierre Governors, says he’s happy with how the team performed over the weekend, especially the pitchers and the ability to throw strikes out of the gate…

Gray says with the traveling within the weekend the team has to be focused and not let it be a distraction…

Gray says they need to continue to throw strikes and make the defense make plays this weekend…

First pitch on Friday is at 5:00 with the second game to potentially follow in Brandon, while Saturday’s games will be at 12:30 and 4:00. All games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
