Team South Dakota 19U Girls needed a win over the undefeated San Jose Sharks on Saturday to have a chance at the quarterfinals on Sunday. Team SD shutout the Sharks 2-0 to stay alive in the tournament.
Berit Hefit scored both goals for Team SD as she scored on the power play in the second period and then added the empty netter in the final 15 seconds to secure the win. Riley Vander Esch stopped all 26 shots in net for Team SD.
Oahe’s Ashton Lee, Olivia Swenson and Alyssa Stahl have at least one more game as they’ll face undefeated San Diego Angels at 1:15. San Diego has outscored its opponents 11-4 in its three victories.
