Team SD 16U Girls were unable to mount the comeback on Fairbanks, Alaska as they fell 4-3 going 1-2 in the tournament and were eliminated from the National Tournament in West Chester Pennsylvania.
Team SD scored the first two goals of the game as Lilly Moon and Faith VanVoorst each scored to give Team SD a 2-0 lead six minutes into the game. However, four straight goals for Fairbanks put Team South Dakota in a bind. Aberdeen’s Morgan Jones scored within under two minutes remaining in the game to pull within one but were unable to score the second goal to force overtime and were eliminated from the tournament, just missing out of the quarterfinals.
Oahe’s Sara Bierne had an excellent tournament for Team SD representing the Lady Caps well.
