Pierre Governors Dominate Rapid City Central for Perfect Opening Weekend

Nearly everyone in the lineup on Saturday had an RBI as the Pierre Governors rolled over the Rapid City Central Cobblers 19-2 in five innings to end the weekend at 3-0.

Lincoln Kienholz and Jett Zabel each had three RBIs in the win on Saturday as the Governors secured 18 hits, three from Zabel and 19 runs to end the weekend 40 runs over three games. Zabel picked up the win on the mound going two and two-thirds innings of shutout baseball allowing three hits and two walks while striking out two. Jonny Lyons made his debut on the hill going an inning and a third allowing just one hit and striking out two. Jayden Wiebe finished off the game in the fifth inning allowing just one hit and two unearned runs.

The Governors will face Brandon Valley at 5:00 on Friday and then O’Gorman at 7:30 followed by Harrisburg at noon on Saturday and Jefferson at 4:00 all in the Sioux Falls area next weekend. All games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
