Oahe’s Brylee Kafka had two goals and two assists as Team SD 14U beat the Tri-Valley Lady Devils 7-1 to go 1-1-1 in the pool play and advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday morning.
Kafka scored on the power play and short handed in the second period to break a 1-1 tie. Kafka assisted on Brookings Miyah Foerster’s first period goal and Taryn Richter’s goal in the third period. It was Kafka’s first points of the tournament and it came at the perfect time to help Team SD stay alive in the 14U Tier II National Tournament in West Chester Pennsylvania. The overtime loss proved to be the difference for Team SD as they secured one more point than the Lady Devils who they beat on Saturday.
Team SD 14U will face Tri-City Eagles of Maryland on Sunday who went 3-0 in pool play at 7:15. Team SD will have to win to play again Sunday night in the semifinals.
