Four First Period Goals for Team South Dakota 16U Leads to Win

Rushmore’s Dawson Wirth and Alex Petrotto each had two goals as the Team SD 16U won its final game of the tournament in a dominate 7-1 win over Providence. However, Team SD didn’t finish as the second seed in its pool and were eliminated.

Wirth finished with a hat trick on the day as Team SD finished at 2-1 but a goal differential of five while Tri-Cities Jr. Americans had a differential of seven keeps them out of the quarterfinals. Kaleb Merchan and Nathan Renken scored in the second period for Team SD to help cruise to the victory.

Oahe’s Jarron Beck represented the Capitals well in Troy, Michigan. Congratulations to him and the rest of Team SD on a fine run.
