Team South Dakota Girls 14U Fall in Overtime

The girls Team South Dakota 14U team picked up a point in its first game of the National Tournament in West Chester Pennsylvania on Thursday falling to the New Jersey Bandits 2-1 in overtime.

Brynlee Sabers of Mitchell had the only goal of the game for Team SD scoring early on in the second period. However, New Jersey answered three minutes later as Jenna Kirch found the back of the net. The game remained tied heading into overtime and within the first minute the Bandits were able to score to win the game 2-1. Marissa Ready made 15 saves on 17 shots.

While Team SD would have wanted the second point with an overtime win, it’s a big point to pick up to make the quarterfinals on Sunday. Team South Dakota will face the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers at 12:15 on Friday. The Flyers won 2-1 in its first game over the Canton Blades.
