The Jones County Coyote girls finished in third place and the Stanley County boys were seventh as the Track and Field Season opened on Tuesday for Jones County, Stanley County and Lyman.
There were a lot of top ten finishes over the day for all three schools:
Stanley County
The Buffaloes had top ten finishes on the girls side from Taylee Stroup and Cadence Hand in the 100 meter dash as Stroup finished in eighth and Hand at ninth. Stroup also was ninth in the 200 meter dash. She was also part of the 4×100 relay team of Raegan Taylor, Camryn Norman and Libby Harrington which placed fifth. Hand was also sixth and seventh in the long jump and triple jump while Carlie O’Conner was fourth and sixth in the shot put and discus throws.
The boys had Andrew Fredericksen have a strong day, finishing third in the 200 meters and sixth in the 100 meters. Brendon Bothwell was also fourth and eighth in those same two races. Cormac Duffy was fourth in the 400 meters, fourth in the high jump and third in the long jump and triple jump. Tyler Leiferman was eighth in the discus throw for the Buffs.
Lyman
For the Lyman Raiders, Ellie Erikson was fifth in the 100 meter dash while also eighth in the 200 meter dash. She finished in fifth place in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the 300 meter hurdles. Skyler Volmer also had a big day for the Raiders as she won the high jump event, second in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the long jump and triple jump.
On the boys side, TJ Moran won the discus throw while placing third in the shot put. Stockton McClanahan was ninth in both the triple jump and the 200 meters. Rory McManus was third in the 300 meter hurdles.
Jones County
Nearly every girl that competed on the day for Jones County had a top ten finish in something as Madelyn Host was second in the 200 meters and third in the 100 meters. Emma Hunt was second in the 300 meter hurdles and fourth in the 100 meter hurdles . Jolie Dugan was fourth in the 1600 meter run and fifth in the 800 meter run, while Mallory Valburg was second in the high jump and Jadyn Jensen placed seventh and ninth in the long jump and triple jump respectively. Kendal Kinsley was seventh in the 200 meters and Alexis Moran was ninth in the 400 meters.
On the boys side Chastin Tollakson had a great day finishing in sixth in the 200 meters while also placing fourth in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump. Carter Erikson was seventh in the triple jump as Slade Benedict was third in the 100 meters, Cooper Feddersen was sixth in the 400 meters and Jett Nix was eighth in the 800 meters.
