Pierre Track and Field Compete in First Events of Season

The Pierre Governors know where they sit and know what work needs to be done as the first meet of the Track and Field season took place in Brookings on Monday.

On the girls side of things, just one Governor finished inside the top ten, Danielle Beck placed sixth in the high jump at 4-10. Beck also had an 11th place finish in the 300 meter hurdles while Emily Lingle finished in 11th in the shotput at 9.66 meters.

On the boys side the 4 by 800 relay team took second place for the Governors. The team consisted of Jared Lutmer, Mason Dell, Hayden Shaffer and Haeden Wheelhouse. Lutmer and Shaffer finished eight and nine in the 800 meter race. Rounding out the top ten for the Governors, Canyon Jones finished in fourth place in the pole vault event at 12-06.
