South Dakota Women Fall in Sweet 16 to Michigan

The South Dakota Women’s historical run came to a close on Saturday as they fell to the Michigan Wolverines in the Sweet 16, 52-49 in Wichita, Kansas.

The Coyotes led throughout the first quarter and didn’t find their first deficit in the entire tournament until midway through the second quarter. Hannah Sjerven led the way with 16 points before fouling out on 7-11 shooting in her final game as a Coyote. Onida native, Chloe Lamb with six while Live Korngable also had six as their careers came to an end. Grace Larkins had three big threes off the bench to help spark the Coyotes who dealt with foul trouble the entire game. Naz Hillmon had 17 to lead the Wolverines while Laila Phelia had 14 and the game winner in the final minute for Michigan.
