The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets are one step closer to a national championship contest with a 77-67 win over Nova Southeastern on Tuesday.
Joel Scott led the way with a game high 25 points in the back-and-forth affair. Until the last several minutes of the game when the Yellow Jackets started to pull away, Black Hills State had the largest lead at nine in the first half but still trailed in the second half. The Yellow Jackets hit their free throws down the stretch in the win hitting 21 of 22 from the line. Black Hills State shot nearly 41% from the field. The Yellow Jackets advance to Thursday’s national semifinals but will need to clean up the turnovers. They lost the turnover battle 20-7, but as good teams do, still found a way to get the win.
