Pierre Police Make Arrest In Friday Night Stabbing

PIERRE — A Pierre man is arrested late last week in connection to a Friday stabbing. Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says officers were called to the 400 block of South Robert Street shortly after 10 pm on March 11th. A male victim told investigating officers he was involved in an argument with 25 year-old John Schlecht of Pierre. During that argument, Schlecht stabbed the victim in the chest. The weapon used in the stabbing was not disclosed by police. The victim was transported to Avera St. Mary’s hospital for treatment of injuries. His condition was not released. Officers located Schlecht later in the 1600 block of East Dakota Avenue. As he was taken into custody, police located a glass pipe that tested presumptive positive for a controlled substance. Schlecht was taken to the Hughes County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault, Ingestion of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
