Select Committee On Investigation To Meet Today On Ravnsborg Impeachment

PIERRE — The House Select Committee on Investigation is meeting Thursday as the South Dakota legislature nears the end of its 97th session. The Committee is looking into whether impeachment is appropriate for Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg for his conduct around a fatal accident he was involved in. District 24 Representative Will Mortenson filed the original articles of impeachment last year…

Mortenson says he’s had access to the investigation files and appreciates that the Committee is doing its diligence…

Mortenson has spent some time listening to prior testimony online and in person, but says he’s holding off on speaking for the Committee…

Representative Mike Weisgram says the issue has generated most of the emails he’s received this session. Senator Mary Duvall has steered away from news coverage and comment on the matter as a possible juror if impeachment moves forward. The crash Ravnsborg was in that killed Joseph Boever happened in Hyde County; one of the four counties that currently make up District 24.
