The Oahe Capitals will open up the state tournament on Friday as they take on the Aberdeen Cougars in the first round part of the 4-5 matchup as the Caps begin their quest to win the 2022 state title.
The Capitals ended the regular season on a high note two weeks ago as they took down Sioux Falls 1, the three seed in overtime 5-4. The Capitals were able to defeat the Cougars in both games of the regular season. The Caps had a 5-4 win in overtime in early December and then 6-4 winners at home towards the end of January. The Capitals will look to make it three in a row against a tough Cougar squad who are back in the state tournament for the first time since 2019.
