Stanley County Travels to Box Elder for First Ever SoDak 16

After a big win on Friday, the Stanley County Buffaloes went right back to work as they will travel to Douglas High School in Box Elder tonight for the SoDak 16 against the St. Thomas More Cavaliers.

The Buffs come in as the No. 15 seed to their first ever SoDak 16 game while St. Thomas More is at No. 2 seed and have been to several SoDak 16 contests prior to this one. The Cavaliers, at 19-2 have not lost since Feb. 5 when they were beaten by De Smet who has just one loss on the season. The other loss for St. Thomas More was to Dakota Valley at the Hanson classic as the Panthers are undefeated at 20-0.

St. Thomas More won its only region tournament game against Custer 66-27 to reach to the SoDak 16. The Buffaloes had to reach the SoDak 16 with wins at home over Crow Creek and Chamberlain, both tough hard fought wins for Stanley County. Tonight though, the offense might be the key to the game. Both the Cavaliers and Buffaloes are holding opponents under 50 points per game as St. Thomas More is averaging under 40 points a game against at 36.8. The Buffaloes do have the fire power to do it. Lathan Prince, Cormac Duffy and Gavin Irving all can be lights out from beyond the arc at times and all three might have to be on top of their game to get the job done against the second rated St. Thomas More Cavaliers. Duffy says it’s a great feeling to be in this position…

The win on Friday over Chamberlain, Prince says was emotional…

Head Coach of the Stanley County Buffaloes Max Foth says the Cavaliers are very disciplined…
