11 Pierre Governors were selected to the All ESD Wrestling teams from both the boys and girls teams for the 2021-2022 season.
Eight different Governor girls were selected to this year’s team, the most from any team on either the boys or the girls side. Ciara McFarling, the 285 state champion and Gianna Stangeland, a runner up in this year’s state tournament were two selected to the team. The other six all competed in the state tournament making it to the final day and place matches as Hattie Baldwin, Emalee Larson, Abbi Lewis, Marlee Shorter, Ireland Templeton and Sydney Uhrig all made this year’s team. All eight wrestlers will return next season for the Governors.
The Pierre boys placed three wrestlers on the All-ESD team as two competed in their respective weight classes state championship matches. Deegan Houska and Blake Judson both competed in the state championships. Alex Oedekoven, an eighth grader also place on the All-ESD team for 2022.
