Jefferson’s Wild Comeback Defeats Pierre in Double OT to end Gov Boys Season

The Sioux Falls Jefferson Cavaliers never gave up even when down by 14 heading into the fourth quarter and still down by 12 with just under three minutes remaining as they came back to defeat the Pierre Governors in double overtime, 79-74 on Saturday in Sioux Falls.

Pierre was unable to hit free throws down the stretch and the Cavaliers seemingly hit shot after shot to fuel the comeback and the win in double OT. The Cavaliers, in its first year, were able to qualify both boys and girls teams to the AA state tournament. Lincoln Kienholz finished with a double-double to close his junior campaign finishing with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Matt Hanson’s career came to and end on Saturday as he finished with 11 for Pierre.

Jefferson will face Washington in the 3-6 matchup on Thursday, March 17.
