The Pierre Governor girls season came to an end on Friday as the Jefferson girls were able to get revenge from 10 days earlier and beat the Govs 52-38 advancing to the AA state tournament.
Pierre couldn’t find the offense on the night as the Jefferson defense held them under 40 points and only scored five less points than their 43-40 win. Jefferson was led by Cierra Watkins with 18 points while Taliyah Hayes had 11 and Aliyah McGovern-Harrington had 10.
The Governors season ends at 10-11 as Reese Terwilliger had the team high nine points while Sydney Tedrow had eight. Layni Stevens and Emily Lingle’s careers came to an end as Stevens finished with seven.
Jefferson will play top seeded Washington in the first round of the AA girls state tournament which is set to begin on Thursday in Rapid City.
