Load Restrictions Going Into Effect Next Week On Some Area Highways

PIERRE — The South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced a series of spring load restrictions that will become effective next week. Starting March 7th, South Dakota Highway 1806 will be restricted on two sections; U-S Highway 83 to State Highway 273 and from the west side of the Oahe Dam to Mission Ridge. On March 8th, three more highways go under load restrictions. They include Highway 26 from Highway 47 to Highway 45 and Highway 45 to the Hand/Spink County line and State Highway 45 from Miller to U-S Highway 212. The load restrictions are six tons per axle on 1806 south and both sections of State Highway 26; seven tons per axle on 1806 north and State Highway 28 and eight tons per axle on Highway 45.
