Charger Girls Get Close, But Fall In Final Seconds To Faith

MOBRIDGE — Too many turnovers, and missing multiple shots in close in the final seconds cost the Sully Buttes Chargers a 47-44 loss to Faith in the SoDak Sixteen matchup in Mobridge Thursday night. The Chargers led 27-22 at the half, and 33-31 after three quarters, but turnovers and a quick Lady Longhorn defense made Sully Buttes pay.

Leading the way for the Chargers was Stevie Wittler, who scored 21 points for the game. But the Lady Longhorn defense shut Wittler down in the second half, after scoring 19 points in the first half. Allyson Wittler added 11 points, and Lydia Hill added ten points. The Chargers finish the season at 18-5.

Faith ups it’s mark to 18-5, and moves on to the girls State Class B tournament next week in Watertown. The Lady Longhorns were led in scoring by Cassidy Schuelke, with 19, while fellow senior Kaycee Groves and Tyann Mortensen each added ten points.
