The Potter County Battlers boys basketball team showed their strength and speed, as they dictated the pace and tempo of the Region 2B quarterfinal victory over the Sully Buttes Chargers by the final of 72-26 Tuesday night in Gettysburg.
Potter County led 21-11 after one quarter, and put the pedal to the metal in the second, leading 47-18 at the half. The majority of the second half was played with the continuous clock, as the mercy rule was put into play.
The senior led Battlers were led in scoring by Grant Luikens, who finished with 26, while fellow senior Cooper Logan added 21, and a third player was in double figures as well—senior Drake Bassett added ten for Potter County, now 20-1 on the season.
The Chargers were led in scoring by both Dwight Kinney and Landon Hepker, each scoring nine points. The Chargers finish their regular season at 10-12.
Next up, Potter County will be at home Friday night, and host Faulkton Area, a 64-44 winner over Herreid Selby Area, and in the top of the Region 2B bracket, top seed Lower Brule cruised to a 90-44 victory over Miller, and will host Ipswich, a 64-50 winner over Highmore Harrold.
