Using pressure defense, and the low post presence of Dwight Kinney, the Sully Buttes Charger boys basketball team cruised to a 78-28 victory Monday night over winless Sunshine Bible Academy in Onida.
Kinney finished the game with 30 points—his season high—and didn’t play midway through the third quarter til the end of the contest. Marshall Wittler also was on point, as he scored 12 points for Sully Buttes—now 10-11 on the year.
The young and rebuilding Crusaders were led in scoring by Nolan Triebwasser, who scored 11 points, and both teams were able to empty their respective benches late in the game for varsity court experience. The continuous clock was in effect at the start of the second half.
Next up for Sully Buttes is a trip to Gettysburg Tuesday night to face the talented, veteran Potter County Battlers, who finished the regular season at 19-1. The Chargers and Battlers faced each other on February 4th, with Potter County getting a 72-57 victory.
