Charger Girls Stumble to Region 2B Victory, Face Highmore-Harrold Saturday

Despite the missed shots and foul issues, the Sully Buttes Chargers picked up a 67-43 home court victory Thursday night over the North Central Thunder to advance to the Region 2B semifinals Saturday.

The Chargers started strong-leading 15-4 after the first quarter, but North Central kept chipping away at a Sully Buttes squad that looked rusty, as Sully Buttes led 27-10 at the half.

A strong third quarter by the Thunders’ Jenisa Jacobs kept North Central in the game, as the Thunder outscored the Chargers 19-14 in the third, but Sully Buttes got rolling in the fourth quarter, and leading the way was Stevie Wittler, who scored 16 and added three steals, while Lydia Hill was high scorer with 26 points, but spent time in the first and second half on the bench with foul trouble.  Jacobs scored a team high 20 for the 6-16 Thunder.

The Chargers now up their record to 17-4, and will face Highmore Harrold Saturday.  The initial scheduled time is for a 2PM tip.  The Pirates defeated Lower Brule 66-54 to advance, and will face the Chargers in Onida.  The Pirates already have a victory over Sully Buttes, a 54-50 overtime win in Highmore January 7th, and is the only Region 2B team to knock off Sully Buttes.
