Fort Pierre Woman Sentenced To Prison Time For Meth Possession In Stanley County

FORT PIERRE — A Fort Pierre woman is sentenced Wednesday to prison time for possession methamphetamine. Stanley County States Attorney Thomas P. Maher says 44 year-old Sky Lee Morin was arrested in January of last year for having meth with her. Three prior felony drug and alcohol offences along with treatment and rehab followed by new violations and a prior criminal record all played into Judge Margo Northup’s sentence. But Morin also has a recent history of treatment completion and sobriety to balance the aggravating factors. Morin was sentenced to four years in the State Women’s Prison with three years suspended. Maher says because of the nature of the offence and the prior history Morin could be eligible for early release after serving four months.
