The Sioux Center Storm will be in town on both Saturday and Sunday as the Oahe Capitals close out the home portion of the schedule this weekend with a lot of state tournament implications on the line.
The two teams are coming into the weekend as the fourth and fifth seeds and both control their own destiny to be in those two spots in the first round of the state tournament. The Capitals currently sit at 11-6 on the season while the Storm are 9-5-1-0 and three points behind the Capitals for fourth place. The Capitals will need a sweep to secure their spot in fourth place while a split opens the door for Sioux Center to move into fourth. The Storm are led by Lucas Van Berkel and Grady Duden with 15 and 14 goals respectively. Luke Myers, the Sioux Center goal has a near .900 save percentage.
The Capitals have scored 19 goals in the last two games and have left its scoring woes in the past. With just three games remaining, Carter Sanderson sits in third place in the state in goals with 22 while Ashton Griese is tied for the state lead in assists and fourth in points with 40. The two, along with Jaron Beck continue to be one of the top lines in the state.
Coverage will begin at 5:40 on Saturday with puck drop at 6:00 and then again at 11:40 on Sunday with a noon start time. Both games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
