Career Achievements Hit in Pierre Basketball Wins over Watertown

Lincoln Kienholz would notch his 1000th career point in the boys game and Kirk Beebout would achieve his 100th career coaching win in the girls game as the Pierre Governors would defeat the Watertown Arrows in both games 72-65 in the boys contest and the girls winning 46-33.

Kienholz went off for 35 points on the night as he needed 30 heading into the game to reach 1000 points. He helped lead the charge for the Governors to lead by 14 at half, 42-28. But not to be outdone, Drew Norberg would hit for 31 points to lead an 18 point comeback to tie the game midway through the fourth quarter at 61-61. The Govs would use a 11-4 run to close out the win hitting five of seven free throws in the fourth to complete the win. Matt Hanson and Jett Zabel each had 12 as the Govs are back to .500 at 9-9.

Remi Price would lead the way for the Governors in the girls contest as she scored a game high 16 for Pierre. Reese Terwilliger followed with 11 as the two found double digits. The Governors were able to hold a 16-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and outscore Watertown by six in the third as the Govs shot 48% from the field and 36% from long range. Jaida Young had the team high nine for Watertown. Pierre improves to 8-10 and have moved into ninth place in the AA standings.

Pierre will face Sioux Falls Jefferson on Tuesday with the boys at home and the girls on the road. Coverage of the boys game will be at 6:40 with tipoff at 7:00 on KCCR with Jon Winkler on the call.
