Homicide Victim Identified By Pierre Police

PIERRE — Pierre police have released the name of a man killed in a homicide last week. The body of 49 year-old Christopher Mexican of Pierre was discovered by police as they responded to a disturbance call at the Pierre Inn and Suites early Wednesday morning. Officers were called to a unit on the south side of the second floor around 3:45 am when police discovered an open door and the body of Mexican inside. Authorities arrested 38 year-old Crystal Pumpkinseed of Pierre on a second degree murder charge the following day. Pumpkinseed is being held in the Hughes County Jail on no bond. Hughes County States Attorney Jessica LaMie says she is planning on taking the case before a Hughes County grand jury. LaMie says more charges in the case may be possible. Arraignment for Pumpkinseed is set for March 22nd.
