Pierre Basketball Renews Governors Cup with Bismarck

For the first time since 2000, the Pierre Governors and Bismarck Demons will renew their out-of-state rivalry as the Pierre boys will travel out to Bismarck while the Pierre girls will host at Riggs.

The Governor boys have to turn the page quickly as they take on the Demons who are as high scoring as it gets for any opponent this season. Bismarck has hit the 100 point mark seven times on the season including hitting its season high 134 against Watford City. The Demons are 14-3 and have won five in row. They are ranked fifth in the latest North Dakota Class A polls.

While the Bismarck girls haven’t hit the 100 point mark this season, their offensive is still potent. They average 67 points a game. It would be the highest average in AA basketball in South Dakota and averaging 17 more points a game than the Governors. Bismarck is 12-3 heading into tonight facing the Governors who have won three in a row and are 6-9 on the season. A win for either the boys and girls will be huge seed points to gain as the North Dakota regular season is winding down.

Coverage of the boys game will begin around 7:25 with tipoff scheduled for 7:45 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
