The Stanley County Lady Buffaloes put up a fight against the Miller Rustlers on Tuesday in Ft. Pierre, but Miller was just too much, defeating Stanley County 52-39.
The Lady Buffaloes jumped out to a 9-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Rustlers were able to respond and take a 24-16 lead into the half before taking a 10 point lead into the fourth quarter. Three Rustlers finished in double figures as Tyra Gates led the way with 12 while Ally Mullaney and Aleah Schlechter each had 11 to pick up win number 10 on the season and improve to 10-5, trying to keep pace with the Sully Buttes Chargers for the top spot in Region 2B. Mattie Duffy had the team high nine for Stanley County as Taylee Stroup, Jordyn Sosa and Carlie O’Connor each had eight for the Lady Buffs who drop to 3-14 on the season.
Stanley County will host the Wall Eagles on Saturday in Ft. Pierre with just three games left in the season. Tipoff of the JV game is scheduled for 2:00 as part of a girls and boys doubleheader.
