This year the South Dakota High School Activities Association moved from qualifying nine times to eight teams for the state gymnastics meet. The result of the change will keep the Pierre Governors out by 1.4 points.
The Governors finished in seventh in the ESD and would have been the ninth team to qualify for the state competition if not for the rule change. However, the Governors will still be sending six individuals to the state competition next weekend in Mitchell.
