The Oahe Capitals peppered 63 shots on the Watertown Lakers Saturday night at the Expo Center breaking out of their scoring slump winning 9-2.
Watertown scored the first goal of the game within the first three minutes of the game, but Dre Berndt fed a one timer to Corbin Beastrom to get the Caps on the board and tie the game 1-1 at the end of the first period. It was all Caps after. Oahe had 33 shots in the second period alone scoring three times as Keller Herman, Jarron Beck and Devin Dodson all scored to give the Caps a 4-1 lead after two periods. Dodson cashed in on a breakaway early in the third period for his second of the game while Keenan Howard scored back-to-back goals to begin run time, Berndt and Ashton Griese scored the final two goals for the seven goal win. It was a much needed win for the Capitals who were stymied last weekend scoring just once.
The Capitals are now 10-6 on the season and will face Huron on Sunday Feb. 13. Coverage will begin at 1:40 with puck drop at 2:00 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
