A big night for Lincoln Kienholz helped propel the Pierre Governors pass the Yankton Bucks 61-56 Friday night at Riggs High School to move back to .500 on the season.
Kienholz scored all 10 points in the first quarter for Pierre trailing 11-10. The Govs would take the lead at the break 25-20 behind a late Brecken Krueger three, his only made basket of the game. Yankton was able to crawl back after trailing by as many as 13 to pull within three but the Governors were able to hit five of seven free throws in the fourth quarter finishing the game 9-12 from the charity stripe. Christian Busch finished with 10 points as the only other Gov in double figures. Yankton hit 11 threes in the game including eight in the second half. Drew Ryken had 19 points including five threes and 17 of his 19 in the second half.
Pierre is now 7-7 while the Bucks are also 7-7. The Governors will face Huron on Tuesday on the road. Tipoff is at 7:00 from Huron Arena.
