The Stanley County Buffaloes were down 26-18 at the end of the first half, battled back for the lead in the fourth quarter but ultimately fell to the Chamberlain Cubs 53-47.
It’s just the third loss of the season for the Buffaloes who are now 11-3 on the season but fall to the team right below them in the standings. Chamberlain improves to 8-4 and will look to make a run at the two seed in the 6A standings having beaten the Buffaloes at home. The Buffs were down by as many as 11 in the third quarter and had its largest lead at five in the fourth, but the Cubs were able to hold off Stanley County in the end. Lathan Prince had 23 and Gavin Irving had 12 for Stanley County. Chamberlain’s Dakota Munger had a team high 16 while Jarren Herron and Collin Two Strike each had 11.
The Buffs will host the Potter County Battlers on Monday at Ft. Pierre in a big Class A vs. Class B matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:45 at the Parkview Auditorium.
