Smith says it’s too early to declare a Lieutenant Governor candidate but says he plans to pick a running mate from a rural part of South Dakota. Smith may have a challenge for the democratic nominee for governor as Barry Hulse of Vermillion has filed paperwork to also run. The Noem for Governor Campaign responded to Smith’s announcement saying Smith’s voting record and values don’t align with the people of South Dakota and says he is a quote “extreme liberal” whose policies have been rejected by South Dakotans.
