After falling to the Brookings Rangers on Friday, the Oahe Lady Caps had a tie and overtime win on Saturday and Sunday in Sioux Center to pick three points out of a possible six over the weekend.
Saturday the Caps tied the Sioux Center Storm with a 2-2 score as Brylee Kafka tied the game early in the third period short handed and the two goalies held serve after. Abigail Stewart-Fromm made 26 saves in net and Ashton Lee had the other goal. The Caps winless streak hit eight straight before Sunday when Olivia Swenson netted the overtime winner to defeat the Storm. Kafka scored the first goal of the game in the first period but the Storm again took a 2-1 lead scoring with just under six minutes remaining. However, Sara Bierne tied the game back up just 28 seconds later to force overtime where Swenson won it for the Caps and pick up their first win in the 2022 calendar year.
The Lady Caps improve to 4-7-3-1 and will host the Watertown Lakers on Saturday for the Pink the Rink day. Coverage will begin at 2:10 with puck drop at 2:30 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler and Jim Lloyd on the call.
