Chargers Earn Split in Physical Doubleheader at Warner

In two physical games, the Sully Buttes Charger girls held off the Warner Monarchs 48-44, while the Charger boys came close, but fell 52-48 in basketball action Saturday in Warner.

The Charger girls trailed 16-11 after the first quarter, and 23-21 at the half, but came out in the second half and received scoring contributions across the lineup to get the victory, and push their record to 11-3.  Stevie Wittler had a big game defensively, and scored 20 points on the offensive end, to lead all scorers.  Addy Chicoine and Allyson Wittler added ten points apiece to help the cause.  The Monarchs, now 8-5, were led in scoring by Peyton Fisher with 11, and Lauren Marcuson adding nine. 

The Charger boys trailed at the half of their contest 29-25 to the Monarch boys, and both teams played to a draw in the second half of a physical game.  Once again junior Landon Hepker was the leading scorer with 18 points, but fouled out in the last minute.  Jordan Schall and Tyler Marshall each added nine points.  The Chargers now fall to 4-7 on the year.  The 8-6 Monarchs were led in scoring by senior Peyton Jung who ended his night with 17 points.
