The Stanley County Buffaloes clamped down defensively on the Sully Buttes Charger boys, and pulled away with a 55-35 victory Tuesday night at Parkview Gym in Ft. Pierre.
The veteran Buffs didn’t allow any penetration into the lane, and the Chargers couldn’t hit an outside shot, so Stanley County wore down the Charger attack en route to the victory, and a 9-2 record on the season.
The Chargers—now 3-6—were led in scoring by Landon Hepker, who finished with 11 points, while Dwight Kinney added nine. For Stanley County, Lathan Prince showed his shooting prowess by hitting six three point shots, and finishing with 22 points, while fellow senior Cormac Duffy also ended in double figures with ten.
Next up for the Chargers is a girls/boys doubleheader in Tulare against the Hitchcock Tulare Patriots Thursday night, while the Buffs will hit the road to Stephan to take on Crow Creek Thursday night. Stanley County did have a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday in Ft. Pierre, but Cheyenne/Eagle Butte will only be bringing the girls team to face Stanley County, while the boys team deals with illness.
